WE CAN --  We will again be participating in this project to collecct food for the DMARC food pantry.  The overall goal this year is 100,0000 items and the goal for Valley UMC is 2010 cans.  We will be stacking the cans in the back of the sanctuary.  You may bring items beginning on Ash Wednesday.  On May 2nd there will be a celebration rally witha concert by Dakota Road.    If you wish to donate cash, each dollar contributed will be counted as 2 cans toward our goal.

UMCOR  (One Great Hour of Sharing -- One Great Hour of Sharing has been an ecumenical effort since 1949.  In the United Methodist Church, our offerings on this day go to UMCOR to pay for administrative expenses.  UMCOR receives no apportionment funds, so your offering on this day enables UMCOR to use 100% of monies donated for specific projects on those projects.  this offering will be taken on March 14th.

The Jerusalem Princess Basma Center for Disabled Children -- This organization plays a vital role in the treatment, rehabilitation and education of children with special needs from the West Bank and East Jerusalem area.  In 1987, they were the first to establish an academic school for inclusive education.  Because of their success, other schools are doing the same, thus providing the chance for those with special needs to pursue an education and financial independence.  They are currently trying to purchase a van for the school to use to transport special needs children.  The cost of this van is $80,000 US dollars.  Their UMCOR Advance number is 14238A.

Please make your contribution payable to Valley UMC with the mission designation on the memo line of your check

THE WORD

 Epiphany - newness/anticipation

Ezekiel 11:19-20

"And I will give them singleness of heart and put a new spirit within them.

I will take away their hearts of stone and give them tender hearts instead, so they will obey my laws and regulations.

Then they will truly be my people, and I will be their God."
