I asked God for water,
He gave me an ocean.
I asked God for a flower,
He gave me a garden.

I asked God for a friend,
He gave me all of YOU...

If God brings you to it,
He will bring you through it.

The Church By The Side Of The  Road"

 by Ray Chamberlain - Feb.2011

There's a little brick church
by the side of the road
in a quiet neighborhood
And one day we went passing by
Then we stopped as we thought we should.

As we entered into that worship place
We couldn't believe what we found
For everyone there greeted us with love
Shaking hands and smiles all around.

They welcomed us, introduced us
and showed us all over the place
Wherever we went on that first Sunday morn
We were met by a friendly face.

They shook our hands, said
we're glad you're here
they were most sincere you could tell
We're delighted to have you visit with us
Have coffee and stay for a spell.

In all our visits in search of a church
Valley Methodist stood out in first place
Folks made us feel a part of themselves
It showed on everyone's face.

We truly enjoyed our visits each time
We soon became part of the place
Each week meant new friends and
new things to learn
As we melded into our own space.

With Wednesday night meals,
and choir practice too
And a Sunday School class that is great
We're loving and caring about
what happens here
And it's difficult sometimes to wait.

And the God-loving folks
who come every week
To worship, to sing and to praise
Feel His presence among us ever so strong
As we serve Him in so many ways.

So now we're a part of
Valley Methodist Church
We're happy to call this our home
We're eager to help wherever we can
I'm sure from here we won't roam.
